About Us

The company was established by four people from different backgrounds all with a passion to make a difference in South Africa. The goals of the company are to equip citizens of South Africa with skills in growing their own food and thereby, creating jobs, addressing hunger and alleviating poverty.

The vision of providing food to families from their own gardens was born in 2020. Since then, the founder, Maritza Visser, met with a group of people with a similar passion and vision. The non-profit company, Etemeleng NPC, was subsequently established in February 2021 and registered with the CIPC in 2021 (2021/548438/08).

The Sotho name Etemeleng means “farm for yourself” and the name signifies the mission and passion of the company, i.e. to equip families and communities with skills and knowledge to grow their own vegetables and become self sustainable.

Leticia holds a PhD in International Trade Law and Economics as well as a M. Comm in Maritime Studies. She is also an attorney and holds a LLM degree. She is a  registered facilitator with the OB ETDP, a course developer and an International trade specialist with passion for development and growth of trade within developing world context.
